Hi,

I'm under Debian/Linux 5.0.8. I'm trying to move a file from one project
quota to another one.
XFS freeze.

I have tested on 2 same servers -> same bug.

Based on my article on http://wiki.debian.org/fr/Quota (in french)


Example:

Creating FS (1):
dd if=/dev/zero of=/root/file.xfs bs=1M count=100
mkfs.xfs /root/file.xfs
mkdir /media/mount.xfs
mount -o loop,prjquota /root/file.xfs /media/mount.xfs

Creating directories:
mkdir /media/mount.xfs/dirA /media/mount.xfs/dirB

Declaring project:
echo 1:/media/mount.xfs/dirA >> /etc/projects
echo 2:/media/mount.xfs/dirB >> /etc/projects
echo prjDirA:1 >> /etc/projid
echo prjDirB:2 >> /etc/projid

Setting up project:
xfs_quota -x -c 'project -s prjDirA' /media/mount.xfs
xfs_quota -x -c 'project -s prjDirB' /media/mount.xfs

Configuring project:
xfs_quota -x -c 'limit -p bhard=20m prjDirA' /media/mount.xfs
xfs_quota -x -c 'limit -p bhard=20m prjDirB' /media/mount.xfs

Control:
xfs_quota -x -c report /media/mount.xfs
Project quota on /media/mount.xfs (/dev/loop0)

Create basic file (2)

Moving ... bash don't return. i can't break process. XFS crash and need to
restart my serveur via button.

Hello Boris,

Your question will not be answered on the Debian users list as nobody on
this list has the knowledge required to assist you with your XFS issue.


You asked twice on the XFS list before receiving a response.
Demonstrate some patience, and you will receive assistance on the XFS
mailing list, which is the proper place to receive the help you need.
Also, bringing this issue up on any mailing list other than XFS is futile.


Quite often XFS questions are answered one or two days after the
original post. Not all are answered the same day, and especially ones
demonstrating, for example, a previously undiscovered bug. The
developers may be doing research before answering you. There may be
other reasons you haven't received a response.


If you are unable to be patient, please buy and install a commercial
Linux distribution such as RHEL or SLES, and buy a support contract that
guarantees 4-6 hour response time. There are no guaranteed response
times, nor a guarantee of a response at all, in the FOSS world.

Which isn't allowed, but old kernels indeed did hang instead of properly
rejecting it.

Try backporting commit 6a0775a991d5597ce98f1e15373288ea133cc793

[XFS] Fix hang after disallowed rename across directory quota domains

which went into Linux 2.6.30 (which is almost three years old)
