Default svn-fast-backup -- how to use remote destination?

I tried to see if `svn-fast-backup` would perform backup to a remote
computer (as per rsync syntax) but it seems to fail (see below)...
anybody got any insights? Is this something worth asking for?
Thanks, Michael

michael@ratty:/usr/share/doc/subversion$ sudo
svn-fast-backup /usr/local/SUBVERSION/nick mkb@veri:/tmp/delMe

Beginning hot backup of 'nick' (youngest revision is 0)...

backup_subdir = os.path.join(options.backup_dir,
find_next_backup_name(youngest))
