No need for a new browser, indeed. No need even to do anything at all,
it seems. Today iceweasel 3.0.6 just came up when I started it with all
my old bookmarks intact. What may be relevant is that in the meantime I
encountered a process still running on old version of iceweasel -- a
process that had survived the upgrade nearly intact and was still
operating properly, except that it too was no longer seeing the
bookmarks. I closed that browser. Next time I opened an iceweasel, the
bookmarks were back.
