Default ACPI on Acer 9300 with lenny

Debian Lenny, latest update from the repos, seems not to work with an
Acer 9300 laptop due to ACPI. It does boot without ACPI/APM, but it
still freezes randomly during usage under X/GNOME. Etch was working
just ok on it. Wondering what it is that could make Lenny fail while
Etch was working ok, and against which package I should file a bug
report or what information/logs you think I should include in a bug
report.
