Default can't install Debian

Have tried several times to install debian on my system without success.
It seems unable to recognise my network connection yet I have no trouble
installing Ubuntu (or any other system) from the internet.
This time I have tried to install on Virtualbox and got the following
install report:

The IP address 10.0.2.15 is inaccessible to me. What is it? Why is it
trying to access it? This seems to be the block. Ping responds with
Destination Host Unreachable.

Solution please.

Which Debian?

*buntu is based on Sid. Have you tried Sid? I suspect Sid has the
hardware support your bleeding edge hardware requires? Just a guess.

sounds like a netinstall or similar iso. telling us what version of
debian you are installing from will help.

i've had an install that wouldn't recognise my nic with the provided
kernel. you may need to download a base cd/dvd (which has the base
system and desktop) then upgrade.
