Default Recording PCM output to file

Dear Debian Users,

I've been trying for a long time to record from my sound card's PCM
out to a Wave file. I've tried many things, but all I get is silence!
:-)

Anyway, let me make a
start. http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Record_from_pcm is what I
have been referring to, but my sound card does not seem to have the
Mix control at all. The other (Capture etc.) controls are OK, and I
get no error, but the sound just doesn't record.

Could you please give me some pointers?

Thanks.

Oh, and here is the lspci output of my sound card:

Thanks.

Are you sure that you have tried all possible configurations for setting
the capture controls? Post the output of the "amixer" command.

Hmm, that looks indeed like it should record. I assume you also tried it
with less amplification on the capture channels? (The settings above
could maybe trigger some sort of overload protection.)

Do you have a microphone to check if you can record from it?
(Input Source = Mic)

Well, I regularly record from my Line in without problems. And yes,
volume fiddling still didn't help capturing from my sound card.

Thanks for your interest, and do tell me in case you manage to figure
out a solution. (I am also trying my best). :-)
