Bug#453678: linux-image-2.6.22-3-amd64: shutdown ok but no power off on my HP6715 laptop
Package: linux-image-2.6.22-3-amd64
Version: 2.6.22-6
Severity: normal
The last report on the console is "disable non boot CPUs". I don't recall that from
earlier versions. Console reponds to show_memory combination.
Problem occurs with ndiswrapper removed, also and gdm stopped.
Significantly 2.6.22-2 was just fine

The last report on the console is "disable non boot CPUs". I don't recall that from
earlier versions. Console reponds to show_memory combination.
Problem occurs with ndiswrapper removed, also and gdm stopped.
Significantly 2.6.22-2 was just fine
To add. The fresh 2.6.23-9 from kernel.org does not exhibit this power
off problem. Everything else seems fine for me too. BTW: this kernel
feels quicker too.
Anyways this bug is fixed somewhere along the line of kernel
development. I guess it should be wishlisted for Debian's own.
This is my first bug report so bear with me on how to do that....

Berni,
A 2.6.23 should be uploaded to sid today - please test that when its
available and let us know if it also fixes this issue for you. In the
meantime, it would also be useful if you could test one of the 2.6.23
snaphots. See http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel for details on
accessing the snapshot builds.

Gladly but note that this prevents standard install:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linux-headers-2.6.23-1-amd64: Depends: linux-kbuild-2.6.23 which is a
virtual package.
I'll try the source package...
