Default Bug#690284: linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64: nVidia GF106 fails with KMS (nomodeset works)

Booting 3.2 on my HP EliteBook 8560w results in the screen no longer
updating during boot - it never switches out of text mode and the last
kernel output I see is:

The machine boots otherwise and I can login over the network and shut it
down cleanly. Adding "nomodeset" to the kernel config lets it boot
successfully and use the vesa driver for X. Running with the
linux-trunk-3.4 image from experiement works fine (and I'm now on
linux-trunk-3.5 which works as well) with the X nouveau driver and KMS.

2.6.32 from squeeze didn't have support for this card so didn't even try
KMS and would thus boot to X with vesa without needing any changes to
the boot parameters.
