Default Bug#685719: khubd crashes, locks up lsusb and powertop

Package: linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64
Version: 3.2.23-1

Identical to #583082 which has been swept under the carpet and archived.

I was hitting this bug in 2.6.38-2. Based on the "wisdom" in #583082,
I went through the process of upgrading to 3.2.0. Net result: NO CHANGE.
Is anybody ACTUALLY treating this as a real bug? I saw than Andrew Morton
guessed that it's a DVB problem and took off running. It's not. I'm in
the US and I don't have DVB. What I do have is a machine that is
completely unresponsive to USB hot-plug events. From every USB port,
including external hubs. So I must reboot my system in order to
download images from my camera or upload data to my Android phone. Is
it the plan to just wait until someone tries a kernel version where it
appears to be fixed rather than actively determine the cause of the
bug? There is trace information.

MORE AWESOMENESS!!! The task is HUNG! SWEET! Maybe it will just go
away on its own. For what it's worth, "powertop" also hangs in an
uninterruptible sleep state.

Thanks for the report and ping. I'm blindly assuming you are correct
here, hence merging...

only get abuse, so stopping here.

My best advice is to either (a) figure out the cause, perhaps with the
help of people more patient than I am, or (b) please test 3.5.2 or
newer from experimental. I do not expect it to fix anything. If I
did expect it to fix something, I'd say so. Instead, the purpose of
this test is to get help from upstream --- if a newish kernel
reproduces the bug, we can contact them, and if it doesn't, we can try
to find the patch that fixed it and apply it to wheezy.

Thanks again for your help, and sorry for my impatience.

Hope that helps,
Jonathan
