Default Bug#683807: crash again, this time taintless

Hi,
after 1 day and 10 hours of runtime it crashed again.

I was copying a 3GB file to the sshfs server and the connection dropped (but
the client and server are on a 1 meter distance and connection is via UTP
cable, through an home router, LAN).
So i remounted the shared directory and i tried again, it failed again.

So i started writing a bug report with reportbug and the pc frozen completely.
I couldnt even reboot via AltGr+Print+B. I had to use the power button.
(anyway there are no traces of the AltGr+Print+S/U/B but there is trace of an
init switch to 0 ).

here is the log from the syslog, this time there seems to be some strange
behaviours by my cd/dvd driver ?!?!
Also the kernel is reported as Tainted with the G (GPL) flag this time (but
sysctl kernel.tainted reported ZERO last time i checked).

here it follows the sshfs bug report that i was writing. I report it here,
since i think that that "Corrupted MAC on input" is some network problem caused
by some corrupted memory problem on the client (this notebook).

The sshfs server is a debian squeeze:

[sshfs report about server]

Subject: sshfs share disconnect with no reason
Package: sshfs
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***

sshfs disconnected with no reason. I copied some files from the server to my
client and viceversa, then i used avidemux to open and edit a video file sited
on the server (>4GB file).
Then i was on a shared directory on my terminal and i issued a mv command and
i received this error:

mv ~/Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB xRG/ .
&
[1]
17047
mv: writing `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB xRG/Dabangg 720P BRRip

mv: failed to extend `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB xRG/Dabangg

mv: closing `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB xRG/Dabangg 720P BRRip
xRG.mkv': Transport endpoint is not connected
mv: preserving times for `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB xRG':

mv: failed to preserve ownership for `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-

connected
mv: preserving permissions for `./Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-SuB
xRG': Transport endpoint is not
connected
[1]+ Exit 1 mv ~/Dabangg 2010 Hindi 720P BRRip x264 E-
SuB xRG/ .

so i checked /var/log/auth.log on the server side:

Aug 8 22:35:18 sshfsserver sshd[1690]: Corrupted MAC on input.
Aug 8 22:35:18 sshfsserver sshd[1690]: Disconnecting: Packet corrupt
Aug 8 22:35:18 sshfsserver sshd[1612]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed
for user ***

after this i tried "fusermount -u $mountpoint" (on the client) to fully
unmount the share but i got a message like "entry for $mountpoint not found in
/etc/mtab"

so i tried "umount $mountpoint" using the root account and it says that
$mountpoint is not mounted.

so i launched again sshfs and i repeated the mv command and the error appeared
on the terminal was almost the same as before but this time it had some
"Input/Output error" on the first lines.
(i cant include these last message because my notebook crashed while writing
this report)

and these are the messages from /var/log/auth.log

Aug 8 22:54:09 sshfsserver sshd[5748]: subsystem request for
sftp
Aug 8 22:57:20 sshfsserver sshd[5748]: Corrupted MAC on
input.
Aug 8 22:57:20 sshfsserver sshd[5748]: Disconnecting: Packet
corrupt
Aug 8 22:57:20 sshfsserver sshd[5737]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed

[/sshfs report about server]

i decided i'll not open a bug report for that issue because i think the sshfs
server is ok. I already had problem *exacly* like this , in the previous weeks
(the 'corrupted MAC on input' with consequent closed connection by the server)
and the server was a wheezy the other times. This time it has a fresh squeeze
installation. So i'm now sure that it is a problem client-related. Also it
*never* happens when the file comes from the server.

bye,
Asdrubale
