Default Bug#680097: RV350: videoplayback causes total freeze

There are no logs there. I think the URL is wrong.

Hm, thanks. Please provide:

- precise steps to reproduce the problem, expected result, actual result,
and how the difference indicates a bug (should be simple enough)

- which kernel versions you have tried and what happened with each

- full "dmesg" output from booting and reproducing the problem on an
affected kernel

- full output from "reportbug --template xserver-xorg-video-radeon", as an
attachment

- any other weird symptoms or workarounds

If you get a chance to test 3.4.y from experimental, that would also be
useful. The only packages from outside squeeze that should be needed for
this test are the kernel image itself, linux-base, and initramfs-tools.

If it reproduces the bug, we can pass this upstream. If it doesn't, we
can try to find what change fixed it and apply the same change to squeeze
and wheezy. So either way is a win.

Hope that helps,
Jonathan

Hi again,

Thanks, and sorry for the slow response.

Since this is reproducible with a recent kernel, we should be able
to get help from upstream. Please report this at
<http://bugs.freedesktop.org>, product DRI, component DRM/Radeon, and
let us know the bug number so we can track it.

Be sure to mention:

- steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, and how the
difference indicates a bug (should be simple enough here)

- which kernel and userspace versions you have tested and results
from each

- (uncompressed) "dmesg" output and /var/log/Xorg.0.log from an
affected boot, as attachments

- what is the nature of the freeze? Can you toggle capslock? Does
ctrl+alt+delete work? Do the magic sysrq keys work?

- if you can get one, a kernel log of the freeze would be excellent.
Sometimes netconsole[1] or a serial console[2] works to get one.

- a link to http://bugs.debian.org/680097 for the backstory

If we're lucky, the symptoms will ring a bell for someone upstream, or
someone will have an idea of commands or a patch to try to track this
down further.

Thanks again for your patience, and sorry I have no better ideas,
Jonathan
