Bug#680097: linux-image-3.2.0-2-686-pae: videoplayback causes total freeze
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.20-1
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss
Watching videos with VLC often leads to complete freeze of my machine.
Especially when pausing a video or rezising the window.
I have a workaround for this bug: At bootprompt i can add "radeon.modeset=0"
and then this crash will not happen anymore.
Here i added several complete /var/log folders from 4 crashes (all without my
workaround, obviously):
http://www.multiupload.nl/DO0BJCB1F2
The first 2 i prepared right after the crash. I did a hard reset of the machine
and booted right into recovery mode. From there i copied the whole /var/log
folder to crash1 and by the next freeze to crash2. I hope this will give you
valuable information.
Crash3 and crash 4 i did a normal cold start of the machine, entering graphical
mode directly (i.e. without first booting into recovery mode).
This bug is bugging me since 2.6.32. Please do something about it.
