Dear Maintainers,

with the current kernel from experimental only every second keypress is
recognized on my ir remote control. Reboot to kernel 3.2 from sid, all back to
normal.
I have no idea how the kernel could be responsible there... ok, a weird bug in
the responsible kernel module for the remote, but somehow I doubt that.

If you need any lirc configs or logfiles give me a note, as right now I don't
think my lirc config does help much here.

It looks like you're using the mceusb driver, which hasn't been changed
between these versions. So this is presumably due to a change in the
core remote control code.

Could you test the attached patch, following the instructions at
<http://kernel-handbook.alioth.debian.org/ch-common-tasks.html#s-common-official>?

Ben.

Apparently it did not help :/ Sorry that it took a bit longer to respond
back... it took quite a while to compile the kernel on that box... as I
did not have the mood to see how to crosscompile on a faster amd64 box
(remote controlled box is i386). So I had to wait for a moment where I
don't need that box for a longer time (took the whole afternoon to
compile).

Any more ideas?

regards
Michael

Could you test Linux 3.3 from
<http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux-2.6/3.3.6-1~experimental.1/>?
That would help to work out when the bug was introduced.

Ben.

If more than one person is responsible for a bug, no one is at fault.

Hi Ben,

mschmitt@ganymed:~$ dmesg |head -3
[ 0.000000] Initializing cgroup subsys cpuset
[ 0.000000] Initializing cgroup subsys cpu
[ 0.000000] Linux version 3.3.0-rc6-686-pae (Debian
3.3~rc6-1~experimental.1) (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version
4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-1) ) #1 SMP Mon Mar 5 21:21:52 UTC 2012

that is the first kernel I found on snapshot.d.o that does show that
issue. The next one backwards is "linux-image-3.2.0-2-686-pae
(3.2.20-1)" and that one works.

Is there anything that comes to your mind?

regards
Michael
