Bug#671292: Logitech wireless does not work on xorg or gpm
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 3.2.16-1
Severity: important
My mouse does not seem to work, either with Xorg, or gpm. It's a Logitech Performance MX.
It works fine on -stable after a clean installation of the 6.0.4 netinst ISO, but does not work either on testing, or sid.
It did not work a week ago, and does not work today either (so this has been broken on both sid and testing for a week now).
I tried clean installs of testing, or installing -stable and upgrading to both testing and sid. The result is always the same; testing and sid don't work.
When I installed stable and upgraded to testing, the device node /dev/input/mouse1 did exist (mouse0 is the trackpad),
but "cat /dev/input/mouse1" showed no output when moving the mouse (mouse0 did when moving the trackpad). When doing a clean install of testing,
the device node mouse1 is never created.
After looking at the dmesg and lsusb, the device itself seems to be detected, however, it does not work.
The mouse works fine on another linux-based computer (ArchLinux, with kernel 3.3.2), so the mouse is not the issue. I additionally have another identical
mouse, which exhibits the same behaviour (on both computers).
To make sure the USB port worked, I plugged in and succesfully mounted a USB hard drive I have at hand. I had no issues with it.
I can provide more information related to this issue if necesary; I'll leave this machine as it is for a while in case something else is needed from it.

Thanks for a clear report. Do 3.3.y kernels from experimental behave
differently?
Curious,
Jonathan

Excellent, thanks for checking.
One more question before we take this upstream: is the other Linux-based
computer where the mouse works also a powerpc, or does it use an Intel
architecture processor?
Hope that helps,
Jonathan

No problem.

They're intel architecure ("amd64"). There's actually two more, and
this mouse worked fine on them from 2.6 thru 3.3.2, in case it's relevant.
I'm guessing it's a powerpc-specific issue.

Maybe. Let's take this upstream.
