This is the whole issue: rekeying is successful according to the logs but the
connection becomes "frozen"(unable to ping the AP, although the association is
reported to be correct).

I can confirm that 3.1.6 does not fix the issue for me.

The bug is still present in 3.2.

This bug just got introduced into squeeze-backports with the inclusion
of the 3.2-kernel.

Default Bug#651199: iwlwifi: Connection lost on "WPA: Group rekeying"

Hello,

the problem still persists for idle network connections with the latest kernel
in squeeze-backports:

linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 3.2.4-1~bpo60+1
firmware-iwlwifi 0.35~bpo60+1

It didn't occur with the earlier 2.6.39-bpo.2-amd64 backports kernel.
This is on a ThinkPad X220 with

03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation 6000 Series Gen2 (rev 34)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 1311

The network is 802.11 b/g with WPA-TKIP to a FritzBox 7170 as AP.

Regards,
Christoph
