Bug#648364: linux-image-3.1.0-1-amd64: ath9k doesn't associate with my AP (but works with other AP's)
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 3.1.0-1~experimental.1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream
Hi,
My laptop has an Atheros AR9285 chip which does only associate to the AP of
my router *if* the laptop is the first one to connect to it. In case it
isn't, I have to reboot the router and make sure my new laptop is the
first to connect.
I own 2 other laptops with different chips which have no problem to
associate with this AP. I have also tested PCBSD (based on FreeBSD) on the
same laptop and couldn't reproduce the issue.
On the other hand, the laptop on GNU/Linux can perfectly associate with
other AP's I have been able to test (eg. I have been using a Dlink DAP-1160
since a few weeks without any problem).
I have already discussed this issue with the ath9k developers [0] but this
hasn't allowed me to find the real cause of the problem. My original mail
describes my configuration, and the various tests I have made to try and
understand this issue.
According to the last mail of the thread, the problem might be in mac80211
rather than in ath9k.
I hence refer to your expertise to help me identify the cause of this issue
and keep a trace of this on the BTS.
