Default Bug#589452: nouveau driver doesn't work with interlaced video modes

I originally opened this bug report against xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, but
I am reassigning it to the kernel because my research indicates that this
is a kernel bug. I have a partial fix which allows a display, but fonts
are not rendered correctly. Graphic images seem to display OK though.
So far all my changes have been to generic KMS code and are not
nouveau-specific.

I'd rather wait to publish my fixes until I have everything working
correctly. The trouble is I haven't had much time to work on it lately.

Default Bug#589452: nouveau driver doesn't work with interlaced video modes

Well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to give up my goal of producing a
perfectly working fix and just publish what I have so far. I have
been able to get a stable interlaced display, but it is only showing
the even numbered lines (or the odd numbered lines, depending on whether
you start numbering the lines with 0 or 1). I feel certain that there's
more work to be done on drivers/gpu/drm/drm_irq.c, but I do not understand
the design well enough to be able to make further progress. I hope that
a kernel guru can take over from here and make it work correctly.

Here is my partial fix:

I used kernel 2.6.38 as my code base.
