Default Bug#604442: linux-image-686: laptop freezes after resuming from suspend

My laptop freezes withing seconds after resuming from suspend to ram. This
does not happen every time but happens quite frequently. system does not
respond to any keypress and has to be rebooted when this happens. The
kernel crash trace looks like below:
