Bug#620535: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: Suspend to disk does not work anymore
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-32
Severity: important
Resume leads to a total crash. In the log's i found the following in messages:
[ 0.000000] PM: Registered nosave memory: 000000000009f000 -

[ 1.608821] PM: Checking hibernation image.
[ 1.609025] PM: Error -22 checking image file
[ 1.609028] PM: Resume from disk failed.
The System hangs and i neet to reset hard to reboot normally. The screen only
shows a blinking cursor in the top left corner.
The Version 2.6.32-31 does not have this bug. Only 2.6.32-32 is affectet. Bug
is reproducable. Crashes everytime with 2.6.32-32. So i will reinstall
2.6.32-31 to get suspend working again. Here is an older log from a working
2.6.32-31:

I have the feeling, that the problem happens while suspend, because there is
nearly no disk activity. Maybe nothing is saved?

Andreas

Once a job is fouled up, anything done to improve it makes it worse.

Bug#620535: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: Suspend to disk does not work anymore
Thank you for ansering, but the free radeon driver has the same effect. I forgot two things to to tell in my report. First, i already tried without fglrx. Second, suspend to ram is not affected - only suspend to disk.

Andreas

Bug#620535: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: Suspend to disk does not work anymore
Thank you for ansering, but the free radeon driver has the same effect.
I forgot two things to to tell in my report. First, i already tried
without fglrx. Second, suspend to ram is not affected - only suspend to
disk.

We have another report about this, and it appears to be an upstream bug
introduced by 2.6.32.36. See bug #620284. If this is the same bug I
think it is, it should be fixed in the next update.
(That bug refers to a different version, but both versions include the
same apparently incorect bug fix.)
Ben.
