Package: linux-image-2.6.38-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.38-1
Severity: important

After upgrade to linux-image-2.6.38-1-amd64, system become very slow. For
example, I open konsole, run "vmstat 1" in one tab, and open another tab.

On 2.6.38-1, vmstat shows:
$ vmstat 1 40

It shows that konsole spend about 20 seconds to open a new tab. within this period, User% and Sys% are high.

On the opposite, on 2.6.37-2, konsole need only no more than 1 second to open a new tab.

Are you using 3D desktop effects, and did you previously use the
proprietary nvidia driver? If so, have you rebuilt it for this kernel
version?

If that's not the problem:

Please get a performance log and send it to this bug report:

1. Install linux-tools-2.6
2. Run 'perf record -p $(pidof konsole)'. This will create a file
'perf.data'.
3. Open a new tab in konsole
4. Kill the 'perf' command by pressing Control-C
5. Send the file 'perf.data'
