I understand that this is not a lot of information to reproduce the bug, but please consider that this appears to be a KNOWN bug, so all debian has to do is to ship a version that doesn`t have this bug and/or disable kernel mode switching. -- <html><head> <title>DEREFER</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0; URL=http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" link="#666666" vlink="#666666"> <table width="100%" height="100%" border="0"><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#666666">Einen Moment bitte, die angeforderte Seite wird geladen...</font></a></td></tr></table> </body></html> GMX DSL Doppel-Flat ab 19,99 Euro/mtl.! Bug#607484: upgrade-reports: unusable on intel i810
the upstream bug is:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26345 as you can see in the report this was reported many times and appears to affect all 845G chipsets, so please do not ship squeeze without a fix or the following workaround. it took me about 30 reboots to figure this out. the workaround is: Option "Shadow" "true" in the xorg.conf "Device" section. to reproduce this bug, use: x11perf -range copywinpix10,comppixwin500 -time 1 -repeat 1 this appears to be a xorg bug, not a kernel bug. please change the assignment. -- <html><head> <title>DEREFER</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0; URL=http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" link="#666666" vlink="#666666"> <table width="100%" height="100%" border="0"><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#666666">Einen Moment bitte, die angeforderte Seite wird geladen...</font></a></td></tr></table> </body></html> GMX DSL Doppel-Flat ab 19,99 Euro/mtl.! Bug#607484: upgrade-reports: unusable on intel i810
> Shadow is enabled by default on 845, so that shouldn't make any
> difference. that can not be the case. I updated to the "experimental" distribution video driver (and X server), which does not even start up without Shadow "true". with Shadow "true" I had no freezes whatsoever using "experimental", so this bug is fixed in "experimental". however, it is not fixed in "unstable". I still had some freezes with that version, even with Shadow "true". without the "Shadow" option the "experimental" X server shows a mouse cursor and a black screen only, with rendering errors in the X log. no other packages have been updated (same kernel version). only xserver-xorg-video-intel and its dependencies were updated. -- <html><head> <title>DEREFER</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0; URL=http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" link="#666666" vlink="#666666"> <table width="100%" height="100%" border="0"><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.gmx.net/?status=hinweis"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#666666">Einen Moment bitte, die angeforderte Seite wird geladen...</font></a></td></tr></table> </body></html> Empfehlen Sie GMX DSL Ihren Freunden und Bekannten und wir belohnen Sie mit bis zu 100,- Euro! https://freundschaftswerbung.gmx.de -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hey Mario,
Sorry for the long lull. relative@gmx.net wrote: > X freezes on a regular basis on i810 graphics, with messages like this: > [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... Can you still reproduce this? What version of the kernel and of xserver-xorg-video-intel do you use? Any other news? Thanks for your help and patience.
