Default Bug#598533: ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.36~rc5-1~experimental.1
Severity: minor
File: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.36-rc5-686

During boot I get the following error messages:

[ 0.308439] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 4
[ 0.309371] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 3
[ 0.310350] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 7
[ 0.310522] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 13
[ 0.310684] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 8
[ 0.310769] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 1
[ 0.310847] ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 12

This is a regression to 2.6.32-5-686, where no such errors were printed
to the console. I did not experience any negative side effects so far
thus I filed it with severity minor only.

Complete dmesg is attached.

Thanks for your work,
Michael

This looks like it could be a real problem, so please file a bug
upstream at <https://bugzilla.kernel.org> under product 'Platform
Specific/Hardware', component 'i386'. Attach the same file and specify
what model of computer you are using. Let us know the bug number or URL
so we can track it.

Me too, and it's like that from at least 2.6.35-rc6.
From what i've read they seems innocuous messages:
http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/7/8/176

However they are on the Rafael Wysocki's regression list, cited by Linus
in his 2.6.36-rc6 message:

http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/9/28/450
http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/9/26/132

Ciao.

Cesare.
