Bug#461429: linux-image-2.6.18-5-amd64: Better r8169 support with Realtek driver
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-5-amd64
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-17
Severity: important
I've had issues with auto-negotiation and the r8169 chipset, sometimes
the kernel-supplied r8169.ko (version 2.2LK-NAPI) only detected 10MBit
half-duplex, instead of 100baseTx-FD.
Installing the 6.004.00-NAPI driver from Realtek fixed the problem;
until now, it has not occurred again. It might be a good idea to include
that driver version into the standard kernel since correct network
operation is usually crucial to Linux machines.
