Can you please provide output of:

sh -x /usr/sbin/mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem.new 2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem 1>/tmp/initramfs.log 2>&1

? Sending it via personal mail to me is fine if you don't want to
share the log in the BTS.

Thanks, this clearly helps.

Please provide output of /proc/mdstat.

/usr/bin/awk points to /etc/alternatives/awk which
points to /usr/bin/mawk on your box, right?

Rémi, could you please try whether:

http://people.debian.org/~mika/initramfs-tools/initramfs-tools_0.96.1+mdstat1_all.deb

fixes your issue (sha1sum and gpg-signed sha1sum in same
directory)?

JFTR: Reraising severity again to mark it as RC bug so the current
version doesn't migrate to testing.

ACK, committed in git branch mika/submit-mdstat-in-bugreports

Thanks for testing. Any chance you could test whether booting with
the generated initrd works fine for you as well?
