Bug#583855: 2.6.34 uses ~30% more power than 2.6.33
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.34-1~experimental.1
Severity: normal
Attached is powertop from 2.6.33 and also from 2.6.34. This is on an
Asus UL30A-X5 which is:
- idle
- booted into an identical gnome desktop
- just a gnome-terminal open running powetop
- connected to the same (idle) wireless network
- the screen at the lowest brightness
2.6.33 (with USB powersave turned on via powertop) uses 5.7W. 2.6.34
(also with USB powersave) uses 8.1W. Additionaly turning on wireless
powersave using powertop (still 2.6.34) gets down to 7.3W. The HD Audio
powersave powertop suggests does nothing (it seems unable to implement
it, on either kernel).
