Has this error occurred before, or just once?

You could look for earlier occurrences by running:
zgrep 'Bad page state' /var/log/messages*

Which filesystem are you using for /boot?

Never since the beginning of my logs, which is July 2009.

Which filesystem are you using for /boot?

# mount | grep boot
/dev/sda6 on /boot type ext3
(rw,nodiratime,relatime,errors=remount-ro,commit=0)

Cheers, Thiemo

Please report this bug upstream at <https://bugzilla.kernel.org> under
product 'File System', component 'ext3', providing the information from
your original report at <http://bugs.debian.org/582487>. I'm not
convinced that this is actually a filesystem bug, but it's a starting
point.

Let us know the upstream bug number/URL so we can track it.

Ben.
