It* appears that my PATA drive* devices are not existent with* this* new* kernel package.

I boot* from ATA drive
Duplicate UUID on* the cloned SATA* drive partition was changed.

Now I* get long** delay in** boot* and** eventually a* message:
" Gave up* waiting for root device. Common problems:
...
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/[long UUID number] does not exist
Dropping* to a* shell

..."

similar * message* after * changing* GRUB2 * to no UUID:
"...
*ALERT! /dev/hda15 does not* exist
..."

No joy** with* adding** rootdelay=90 option* to* grub2

From the shell:

ls /dev/hda*
shows* no devices of* that* name, whereas
ls /dev/sda*
shows the full* complement
