Default Bug#556009: linux-image-2.6.31-1-686: ath9k disassociates frequently, regression from 2.6.30

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.31-1
Severity: important

After upgrading from 2.6.30-2-686, where wireless was working fine,
the ath9k driver started frequently spontaneously disassociating.
Forcing reassociation with iwconfig wlan0 ap <mac-address> would work,
but it would spontaneously disassociate again after just a few minutes.

This appears to be:

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14267

but I'm not certain.

The message when this happens is:

[ 745.004651] wlan0: no probe response from AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a - disassociating

when I force reassociation, I get:

[ 788.085908] wlan0: direct probe to AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a try 1
[ 788.087976] wlan0 direct probe responded
[ 788.087983] wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a
[ 788.090275] wlan0: authenticated
[ 788.090281] wlan0: associate with AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a
[ 788.092814] wlan0: RX ReassocResp from 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a (capab=0x431 status=0 aid=2)
[ 788.092820] wlan0: associated
[ 980.011984] wlan0: no probe response from AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a - disassociating

As you can see, it spontaneously disassociates again after a while. The
same configuration works fine with 2.6.30-2-686.

Possibly related: shortly after the first time I booted into 2.6.31, I
got the following:

[ 397.996992] Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason a0 on CPU 0.
[ 397.996992] You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus.
[ 397.996992] Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
[ 401.996039] wlan0: no probe response from AP 00:13:10:d3:0b:2a - disassociating

I don't know if the NMI problem is at all related to this. I don't get
that NMI error with 2.6.30-2-686.
