well this looks more like userland trouble to me,
thus going to close unlike other call.

Sorry, I don't see how that is... what part of userspace is supposed to
listen to headphone insert/remove events?

which version did you try, was it 2.6.29-rc7??

also if still applyable there please report upstream on
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/my_view_page.php
