Package: linux-image-2.6.28-1-686
Version: 2.6.28-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi,

I have this sound card:

0:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
Subsystem: Dell Device 0233
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 21
Memory at f6adc000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel

Using the kernel 2.6.26 the sound work, but using the 2.6.28 the sound dont
work, but no errors are showed. The modules are the same, look:

could you check latest 2.6.28 sid snapshots or 2.6.29-rc7 builds
and see if it works there for you?
see apt lines http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel

thanks

I used version 2.6.28-2~snapshot.12968 and sound was still a bit screwed
up. There is now a Headphone slider that controls the volume separately
from the Master slider. Inserting headphones did disable the laptop's
speakers, but then if I muted and unmuted the Master channel, the
laptop's speakers came back to life even though the headphones were
still plugged in.

Hi,

I try this version of kernel and the songs remain the same, i.e. without
sound. No errors is found but no sound is showed. Do I have more tests to
apply on my machine to find the problem and help in diagnostic?

Thanks
Ronaldo

Ronaldo, Sam,

The next release of Debian (6.0, code name Squeeze) will be based
on 2.6.32. Please test the current 2.6.32 from unstable and tell
us whether the problem persists. If so, we should report it upstream
to the kernel.org developers.

The 2.6.32 kernel is available from packages.debian.org and can
be installed in both Debian stable, testing and unstable
installations.

Thanks,
Moritz
