Bug#506424: linux-image-2.6.26: copying /proc/*/pagemap leads to resource consumption because of uninitialized struct
Subject: linux-image-2.6.26: copying /proc/*/pagemap leads to resource consumption because of uninitialized struct
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.26-10
Severity: normal
File: linux-image-2.6.26
*** Please type your report below this line ***
The VMware support script copies various files from /proc to the report directory. Copying
/proc/*/pagemap takes forever and produces a large file, probably filled with garbage.
Steps to reproduce:
# cp /proc/self/pagemap /tmp/self.pagemap
I found a LKML thread regarding the problem:

Is this issue really reproducible with the version you reported, i.e. 2.6.26-10?
This issue was fixed in 2.6.26.1, which is included in that version and I can't
reproduce the problem with that version.
Cheers,
Moritz
