Bug#499752: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686: Seagate STT20000A no longer works in 2.6.26
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686
Version: 2.6.26-4
Severity: important
Tags: upstream
Hi,
After updating my system from kernel version 2.6.24 to 2.6.26 I ran into
some problems due to my Seagate STT20000A tapestreamer. Those problems
also occur in the vanilla kernel and have been reported upstream on the
lkml.
1) The system no longer boots. HEAD upstream does boot, but the
tapestreamer still doesn't work.

2) The output upon booting is garbled (a minor problem)

Which upstream version did you test that worked?
What module is used by the streamer?
Cheers,
Moritz

Upstream 2.6.24 and 2.6.25 worked, after that it no longer worked.
I just tested upstream 2.6.28 and the streamer still doesn't work.

The streamer uses the ide_tape module.

If the bug persists in 2.6.28, please file a bug report at
bugzilla.kernel.org and send the bug number to this buglog.
Thanks,
Moritz

Sorry took a bit longer, I was quite busy the last few weeks. The
problem still exists in 2.6.29-rc7 and I reported the bug upstream.

The upstream report doesn't seem to have led to anything.
Does it still fail with current kernels?
Cheers,
Moritz
