Default Bug#498166: I cannot run Debian on kernel 2.6.26-1-686

Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686

I cannot run Debian on kernel 2.6.26-1-686 because he stops on
"setting console screen modes and fonts"
I am using Debian Sid and this bug occurs only this kernel.

Is the problem "fixed" by specifying hpet=disable on the kernel command
line? How does it "stop"? Does it still accept input? Does sysrq works?

This bugreport lacks any sign of information. You have to provide at
least lspci output, correct version and dmesg.
