Default load module error

I've tryed to load modules for my partition encryption, and had an error:

#modprobe sha256
WARNING: Error inserting padlock_sha (/lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/kernel/drivers/crypto/padlock-sha.ko): No such device

Is it very important error for this module work? Can I work with this module with that?

My kernel is: 2.6.26-1-686 #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 12:56:41 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

In aliases file (/etc/modprobe.d/aliases) try to add this line:

alias sha256 sha256_generic

padlock-sha is for using the crypto-chip on via epia boards

Default load module error

I've made all what you wrote, now I don't have any errors.
So, what the difference between sha256 and sha256_generic, and why I had
sha256_generic loaded module before did that same with module what I
have now?
