Yes, I have now found the cause of the regression, it is actually not
due to linux-libc-dev. Sorry about the wrong information, I have been
misleaded by the randomness of the bug...

The bug has been triggered by a patch fixing another bug, and is due to
problems in lock implementation on hppa (hence the randomness). More
details in bug #489906.
