Default Bug#484594: linux-image-2.6.25-2-686: 2.6.25 (and possibly before) very slow to boot around devicemapper/s2disk initialisation stage

Package: linux-image-2.6.25-2-686
Version: 2.6.25-4
Severity: normal

2.6.25 is very slow to boot on both my i686 (debian 2.6.25-2-686) and
amd64 (debian source 2.6.25-4) machines. I suspect this may have been
happening for 2.6.24 as well, but I will need to go back and check.

I don't think the following bug is related, but maybe, since it
mentions device-mapper...

http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/4/27/19

Notice the time missing between between 11 and 64 seconds. I haven't
rebooted my amd64 machine yet with the kernel compiled with timing
information, but I think it was happening at the same
device-mapper/suspend to disk stage.

Neither kernel is actually booting a suspended image. But booting
from suspended images has also been slow.

Please show the console output, not the kernel log. The device-mapper
module is loaded in the initramfs, so the machine already runs userspace
code while it got stuck.

You seems to use initramfs-tools, which should provide some output on
the console during its work.

Does this error still occur with more recent kernel versions?

Cheers,
Moritz

No it hasn't - I'm not sure at which point precisely it stopped.
