bug 675151: kmail vs akonadi?
Hi,
I tried - unsuccessfully - to get to the bottom of bug 675151: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=675151 I believe this to be a Debian bug and not a bug upstream is concerned about because upstream moved away from KMail 1 a while ago. As far as I can tell Akonadi::ContactSearchJob *job = new Akonadi::ContactSearchJob(); job->setQuery( Akonadi::ContactSearchJob::Email, email ); job->exec(); always comes back empty regardless of whether there's such an e-mail in the contact database or not. It affects OpenPGP but also seems to affect distribution lists. I should mention that so far this bug has not been confirmed by anyone. I am not sure how I should proceed to debug this and I would be grateful for any pointers. In any case, thanks for all the hard work you guys put into KDE on Debian! You may want to look over the akonadi mail archive @ https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/nepomuk And then especially August and the thread that 'starts' with http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/nepomuk/2012-August/003003.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". bug 675151: kmail vs akonadi?
Hi, thanks for this.
I am however not sure how exactly this thread relates except for talking about the same object? As far as I can tell the problem I am observing is due to Kmail being still the 1.13.x series in Debian. Or are pointing me to: > Enable "job tracking" in akonadiconsole in https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/nepomuk/2012-August/003017.html ? I follow the nepomuk ML and I remembered the code snippet that you posted was also on that ML, so yeah, that was indeed the trigger for my response, Other then that, the recent discussion on that ML pointed to some issues wrt to mail and akonadi, where akonadi seemed to be the culprit. > As far as I can tell the problem I am observing is > due to Kmail being still the 1.13.x series in Debian. Since your akonadi query always came back empty, which doesn't sound right, combined with the aforementioned issues, caused me to think that akonadi was more likely the issue then the version of KMail in Debian. I can very well be wrong, but thought it may be worth checking out if the cause of your issue was actually with akonadi. I should point out that I - if memory serves - the problems started with an update of Akonadi from 1.6.2 to 1.7.2. So I should perhaps have written that Akonadi and KMail don't seem to agree on something (?) On a related, can you perhaps try to reproduce the problem? The easiest way to test as far as I know is to create a distribution list, say, "foo". Then, when attempting to send an e-mail to the members of this list, KMail will attempt to send an e-mail to "foo@localhost". At least this is what is happening here in my Debian/unstable setting.
