Default kded4 endless CPU loop

Hi!

We had this before, but I am unsure about the current status.

Now I had several X crashes and wondered why the fan of my ThinkPad T520
was going wild (still very quiet, but hot air).

I had another occasion with about 4 of those and 2 nepomukservice
processes competing for the CPU.

What I would like to know: Did anyone do anything about it? If not, I
think I would look for upstream bug reports and file it there.

Google gives a lot of hits for "kded4 endless cpu loop" but its difficult to
tell which are still current.

I have to kill -9 these processes as noted previously here and this has
started with KDE 4.6.

Ciao,

Hmmm, I forgot that I already reported a bug about this:

kdelibs-bin: on logging out and in again kded4 (often?) loops on the CPU
http://bugs.debian.org/621358

I will search for a corresponding bug report on http://bugs.kde.org,
otherwise forward upstream.

Did so and commented on the debian bug report.

The fix

Changes:
kde4libs (4:4.6.5-2) unstable; urgency=low
.
[ José Manuel Santamaría Lema ]
* Add kded4_deadlock.patch to prevent a deadlock triggered sometimes
in kded4. (Closes: #621358)

appears to work okay on my laptop.

Thanks a lot, José.

Thanks for noticing, we couldn't reproduce the problem so it's good to know it
works. About the patch itself just hug George, who actually pointed me to that
patch in our IRC.

Then: thank you George and José.

The patch really does appear to fix the issue for me.
