Default Amarok's Issues

I would like to know if people here have the same problems with Amarok
(Squeeze's version of it), as I do. I haven't looked for bugs filled
about it yet, but these issues have been annoying for time enough to
put me wondering if I'am the only who has been facing them.

Basiclly, I have the following problems:

1) Oftenly, when I put an album for playing, the player skips the
second track, playing the third one. Actually, it has happened even
when I put a track that is not the first for playing. The next one on
the list is skiped by the player as well.

2) If I add new media directories to the collection, some artist
entries on the list (left side) get duplicated. I have to quit the
program and launch it again in order to have my collection showed
correctly.

3) Pause just dont't work. Instead of it, the music is started over
again, from the beginning.

Do you have the same issues? Are those known bugs or should I report them?

Thank you.

I never encountered 1 and 3, while I often use those functions and I have no
experience with 2. I run Squeeze with 2.6.32-3-686-bigmem kernel.

Cheers

Default Amarok's Issues

I'm using 2.3 now and I don't have any of these issues.
I'm currently using all KDE/Qt related stuff from sid/experimental.

Third one may be related to your phonon backed. Try to choose another.

Best regards,

I've had other weird problems with the collection (like missing albums)
after an upgrade of Amarok. This was due to database corruption, and the fix
was to nuke the database (somewhere under ~/.kde).

I do run with an external MySQL database.

I've had this problem some time ago, but it went away, probably due to an upgrade or sth.
I'm running sid/experimental (=KDE 4.4.2 and amarok 2.3.0).

I did/do also have from time to time that the Local Collection is empty, requesting a "Fully Rescan
Entire Collection" (Settings -> Configure Amarok).

In my experience it's probably better to use an external database
(MySQL) with amarok because it's faster to load. Anyhow, it still
happens that the changes you make to the tracks/albums don't show
immediately in the database. Bye

I switched to phonon-backend-xine, as recommended by Debian page[1]
and pause function started to work. (What means that problem 3 seems
to be gone.)

The others problems are still there, altough the first (about skiping
second tracks on the list) sometimes happens and sometimes don't. I'm
not sure about what it is related to.

I'm using SQLite as database backend, but I'll try MySQL. I just
didn't want to have such a dependency of a external program, I would
like that Amarok could be able to work all by itself, but, I know that
a MySQL database would be much better when it comes to data managment,
and switching to it would be not so bothering at all.

I'll keep my eyes open and consider to fill some bugs on upstream. =)

You said you were using squeeze, didn't you ? May I ask you how you
tweaked amarok to use sqlite instead of mysqle ?

Thanks in advance,
