Default SUMMARY

Greetings (again),

(I'm not sure if you are supposed to summarise your findings on these
lists, or whether you are supposed to top or bottom post,
but here goes...)

I sucessfully installed the new JRE plugin and got it going on
Iceweasel; Bigpond Office Word Editor applet and the Java Console
appear to working OK, here is a quick praise of what I did,
(basically RTFM):

0. Downloaded the self-extracting file called "jre-6u5-linux-i586.bin"
from http://java.com/en/download/linux_manual.jsp

1. Decompress (as root???):

cd /usr/share/java
chmod a+x jre-6u5-linux-i586.bin
./jre-6u5-linux-i586.bin

(you get the idea, am teaching you how to suck eggs???)

2. Set the Symlink:

cd /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins
ln -s /usr/share/java/jre1.6.0_05/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

3. Set up the Java console:

cd ../extensions/
unzip /usr/share/java/jre1.6.0_05/lib/deploy/ffjcext.zip

4. Arc up Iceweasel and wait for everything to load!!!

The Install instructions does not mention debian; it confines itself to
Red Hat and Suse...

Thankyou for your bandwidth,
CUL8r, fcG.

Default summary

Firefox has getElementById, insertBefore, setAttribute, removeChild etc
to position, add, edit and remove interface elements. If Unity uses XML
DOM, documents app creation starting from overview, going to details
with examples and gives credits to app creators, since changing the
platform with apps is interesting to programmers, Unity will bring in as
many ideas as Firefox brought in.

Best regards,
Pedro Bessa
