Default Uploading fop 1.0 to experimental

Hi there,

I have prepared the debian package for fop 1.0. I would like to upload it to experimental so that people can start playing with it. Does this seems resonable, or should I just go ahead and upload to unstable ?

Thanks for comments,

I would suggest uploading to experimental and to give some time to
people to check the persistance (or not) of existing bugs, and then
send the whole thing to unstable, in a couple of weeks. I would
suggest pinging people using fop as a build depends; here is the list
for testing (obtained using build-rdeps from devscripts, very handy
BTW):

Reverse Build-depends in main:
------------------------------

arbtt
freemind
scilab
ognl
libjlatexmath-java
publican
libspring-ldap-java
gpsbabel
jeuclid
umlet
libspring-security-2.0-java
erlang
doxia-sitetools
uimaj
jaxe
doxia

There you go.

I can't have a look at the package for now (no real debian working
environment here), I'll have a closer look some time next week.

Cheers,

Vincent

I'm pinged :-)

Do we have to expect API changes compared to 0.95? I browsed the fop
site [1] but could neither find version 1.0 nor a changelog.

And make please the couple of weeks, a few weeks, it's holiday season
here...

For info, I'm trying to get freeplane [2] in Debian before the freeze,
which also depends on fop.

Thanks, Eric

Default Uploading fop 1.0 to experimental

Dear package maintainer,

I have uploaded fop 1.0 to experimental:

http://packages.qa.debian.org/f/fop/news/20100717T204721Z.html

I did not make xmlgraphics-commons 1.4 a requirement, the package is
available on mentors (I am a DM so I cannot upload xmlgraphics-commons
to experimental):

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xmlgraphics-commons/

Please test if you can, and please do report any issue you may find.

Thanks

I've tried FreeMind with fop version 1.0 and, when I try to export to
PDF (menu File -> Export -> As PDF), I get the below errors, which I
don't get with version 0.95 (unstable environment).

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Eric

Something else:

$ dpkg -L fop | grep 0.95
/usr/share/java/fop-0.95.jar
/usr/share/maven-repo/org/apache/xmlgraphics/fop/0.95
/usr/share/maven-repo/org/apache/xmlgraphics/fop/0.95/fop-0.95.pom
/usr/share/maven-repo/org/apache/xmlgraphics/fop/0.95/fop-0.95.jar

The names and links surely need to be adapted to 1.0

Cheers, Eric

Default Uploading fop 1.0 to experimental

Thanks to the work of Eric, we tracked the issue down to a problem
with xmlgraphics-common. I updated the fop package to actually
requires xmlgraphics-common >= 1.4 (thanks to Torsten Werner for the
upload).

Upstream developer of jlatexmath (C/C of this email) reported some
issues with the version 1.0 of FOP.
He says [1] that this release has some issues with the font management
and the way to render images.

jeuclid builds against this version but I haven't been able to test for
now. I will contact upstream about this.

Cheers,
Sylvestre

Sylvestre, did you made any progress on that ?

BTW since debian is in freeze, is it too late to upload fop 1.0 to unstable ?

Thanks,

I contacted him but I didn't get any answer.
The future release, at least for now, does not seem to include the
migration to fop 1.0:
http://jeuclid.sourceforge.net/changes-report.html

> BTW since debian is in freeze, is it too late to upload fop 1.0 to unstable ?
It is indeed too late. It has too many reverse dependencies to try this
migration for squeeze.

Sylvestre
