A little note about the license for the debian/* files: you set the
license to GPL-3 (actually, mh_make did that for you). It's considered
maybe best practice to use the same license for the Debian packaging as
for the main package, so here Apache 2 may have been a better choice.
But of course, you are the packager, so the choice is yours.
I will update mh_make to work more like this when it can find the
license in the upstream project.
I'm not a DD, so you still need a sponsor!

which vcs repo do you use? You should commit the code either to our
svn or git repo because you have set the Maintainer to pkg-java.

Correct me if I'm wrong, debian/ under upstream license could be good
when forwarding patches to upstream to keep the same license.
Changed debian/ to ASL 2.0 even because it's a "public package" and
there may be different points of view.
