This is an awfully generic name for a Debian package. How about calling
it 'newsrssticker' or 'news-rss-ticker' instead?

for reference, the package is already going through the mentors process,
where Emmanuel was pointed to the problem with the generic name [1][2].

Thanks for everybody feedback. I was wondering whether 'i-news' could be
suitable? Otherwise, I will go for 'news-rss-ticker' for package name
although I'd like to find a shorter name for binary/command (and am
running out of ideas...)

It's GTK, so presumably it's going to have a .desktop file and won't be
launched from the command line, typically. The length of the name of
the executable does not, therefore, need to be short. Use the source
package name as the binary package name and the command.

There's a comercial software called inews (http://www.avid.com/US/products/inews) don't know if i-news is a good name *

You don't need to go as far as commercial software for that; inews is
the traditional name for the program NNTP clients use to inject articles
into the netnews (Usenet) system. Nowadays it's a virtual package
provided by inn2-inews, but i-news is still uncomfortably close to that.
