But still: How does this relate to IM, or to older protocols like
"talk"? (The Google Translation of the URL doesn't make much sense.)

2. it can auto detect all clients in the intranet
3. it does not need a center server.
4. it can add internet client by IP
5. the file transfer speed is very fast (MSN, gtalk only has several KB/s here)

Like Bonjour, then? (Implemented in pidgin and finch.)

maybe, I did not use Bonjour.

and the windows version of IP Messenger (also called "é£žé¸½ä¼*ä¹¦" in
Chinese) is already widely used (at least in China), so I want to
introduce the linux client to Debian.

1. xipmsg does not support display username other than ASCII
2. xipmsg does not support user icon
3. xipmsg does not support file transfer
4. xipmsg does not support add internet client with IP

so I still want to introduce iptux, :-)

Is "IP Messenger" a special protocol? I dont really see "IP"(as in Internet
Protocol?) beeing a very aproperiate label.
