This calls for a celebration.

Fortunately, not all of this 500000 bugs are open. Other implications?

Dirk.

Who has won the "Chritian Perrier Award" for the best estimation of
time for this?

Kind regards

Andreas.

"Rene Mayorga is the winner of the "bug #500000 contest" bet. He
planned it to be reported on September 23rd and just missed the real
date by one day. Congratulations, Rene."

For the occasion of the 500000th Debian bug being reported today, I
couldn't resist digging some statistics from bugs.debian.org.

Out of the 500000 bugs reported so far more than 440000 thousand bugs
have been fixed! Ignoring the fact, that the pace at which bugs have
been reported (and fixed!) in Debian's 15 years of history has certainly
increased, an average of more than 80 bugs have been closed per day.

To all DDs: Thanks for the excellent work!

Here are the details:

(1) Sum severety: 66786
(2) Sum resolved: 7637
-----------------------
(1-2) Sum open: 59149

I am sure there are better ways of analysing this, but for today I'll
have to leave this to someone else...

Cheers,
Johannes

Let's not forget Nobuhiro Iwamatsu who reported that bug....

Even though bug #499997 would habe been fun to have as #500000,

You tried to cheat to gather the fame of reporting #500000! ;-)

Kind regards

Andreas.

Sean Finney can testify that I didn't cheat by keeping the bug to send
it just on time.

Indeed, the idea of sending it just popped up in my crazy mind while a
few of us were waiting on IRC for #500000 to be reported.

Sean was just doing a mini-MBF for PHP stuff and, while I was kidding
him, the idea just popped up..
