yet another off topic: contrib members profiles

Take it CRUX's userbase is relatively small and somewhat involved into
development/discussion process. And I think it is not always obvious
"who is who" and what is person's e-mail address, full name or irc nick.

I'd like to see a wiki page like [1] for (at least) contrib members (or
anyone having a ports repository listed in ports db). Searching personal
homepages for a few lines of info is not very convenient.

The template could look like this:

Real name:
Age:
Location:
Personal website:
IRC nick:
Occupation:
Area of interest:

It could have URL like: http://crux.nu/Public/ContribMembers

[1] http://crux.nu/Main/About

Go ahead. I'll fix up the links on Main/About then.

Tilman

Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

I created a CRUX group in Facebook some time ago and it has since grown
500%. We are expecting it to hit OSNews really soon now.

Greetings from the trenches,

and Facebook and Lifejournal and ...

To be honest, I am not willing to participate in any more of the
countless web-based relationship networks out there. For every
little *peep* there seems to be a perfect place in the web -
stuffed with ads but no useful new functionality.

The mailing list is still the best way for me to stay in touch.
The information just comes to me... no need to go there, login and
pick it up.

Regards,

Clemens

I agree completely.
Besides, maybe we can add pictures or more information on the website to make
it more friendly. The map we once had with the members locations was very
cool.

I disagree partially. Hosting the information on crux.nu gives you
authority over the data. But is such map, member list useful at all?

I think it's about technical collaboration and not about social
contacts.
