I have pushed a new port to opt: radeon-ucode.

This port installs needed firmware for Radeon r6xx and r7xx needed for
kernel modesetting. The firmware will not ship with the kernel and there
are some license restrictions making them "non-free". The gist of the
license is this:

No reverse engineering, decompilation, or disassembly of this Software
is permitted.

KMS is currently not supported in xorg-xf86-video-ati 6.12 but will be
in 6.13.
If you want to try it out you can pull from git or bump the
xorg-xf86-video-ati version to 6.12.192 (6.13-rc2).
