Default smartctl fails after update to 5.1

Hello,
after update to 5.1 the smartctl will fail.
I get this output:
smartctl --all -d ata /dev/sda

Register values returned from SMART Status command are:

A mandatory SMART command failed: exiting. To continue, add one or more
'-T permissive' options.

On 5.0 all was ok.
Any ideas?
