Hi guys,
Since xorg has moved to extra repository,
we will have broken nvidia legacy drivers:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=139388&highlight=x.org
We will see how fast new fixed legacy drivers will be released, if ever.
As alternatives, you can use nouveau, nv or vesa drivers instead.
Negative effect, you lose 3D functionality,
but you gain a none tainted system
Pierre tested this, and this also concerns the 173 series.

Yes, both legacy drivers are affected, 173 and 96 series.

Why you didn't write an announcement for this?

Because we didn't know this for sure. There wasn't any bug report left.
And I'm totally against holding back anything because of closed stuff.

What about adding the legacy drivers to xorg-servers conflict array and
remove them from the repo?

Shouldn't we gave them(nvidia) some time to fix this before removing it from
the repo?
Just a thought.

We can always leave the PKGBUILDs in trunk and re-add the packages as
soon as they release a fixed version.

Idid not mean to wipe them completely from our svn. Just doing a db-remove
and adding the correct conflicts to xorg-server should be enough. Keeping
broken dirvers in the repos is more confusing.
