Hi Ralf,
I don't know if you have any desire to try cinelerra again but I
have the backports version running and so far it has played .mov,.dv
and .avi with video and audio in perfect sync. I've done some basic
editing and no crashes so far. I don't know what went right but it
works. If you try it make sure that bitrate and samplerate are set
properly and that you are using the alsa driver. Here's something
kind of wierd to me, under the audio driver settings there is a
checkbox labeled "stop playback locks up", I checked it and no more
freezing up.
Good Luck,
Arthur

If not please post the version or attach the package. I worry about
compiling a program like this in general and because I'm familiar with
Suse compiling with Debian will be super unpleasant for me. I don't need
cinelerra the next weeks and if you will add it back I will wait.
Cheers,
Ralf
